SMNE Duel in the Pool Series 2020
The SMNE coaches and committee have been looking at ways to promote fun swimming competitions in our area for our younger swimmers to encourage participation and retention in our great sport.
SMNE are excited to announce a series of four Duel Meets for our 13 and under swimmers in 2020. These are guaranteed to be fun, actioned packed events, with plenty of laughter, smiles and cheering. No timing, no officials, no marshalling, just good old fashioned head to head racing for your team. There will be lots of prizes!
Swimmers will be representing their own clubs and each team will comprise of 24 swimmers, roughly 8 Junior (ages 9 & under), 8 intermediate (ages 10-11), 8 senior (ages 12-13). Each club can have as many teams as required. Clubs unable to fill a team may join with another club.
The dates of these meets will be as follows:
#1 Sunday 28 June
#2 Saturday 1 August
#3 Saturday 19 September
#4 Saturday 31 October
Warm up will commence at 3pm with racing to begin at 3.30 pm and finish approximately 5pm.
We are looking for Clubs to host one or more of these afternoons. The host Club will receive $1,000 to host per afternoon. Clubs can organise BBQs, cake stalls. Raffles etc and all proceeds from the sales can be retained by the host Club.
The venues will be decided once we receive expressions of interest from Clubs for hosting rights and also swimmer registration volumes.
The cost for swimmers will be $40 to enter the 4-series duel meet. However, if a swimmer has registered and paid for any 2020 SMNE development squad activity, the duel meet fee of $40 will be waived.
We believe this will be a great concept benefiting clubs, coaches, parents and swimmers in our area and we hope to have your support as we launch this new initiative in 2020.
At this time, we are asking Clubs that would like to nominate to become a host, to send Club name, contact, phone, email, date(s) you wish to host to Amanda Vance at secretary@smne.org.au. Hosting rights will be given out on a first come, first served basis.
If you have any questions about the Duel Meet Series, you can contact Mitch Falvey at mfalvey@ravenswood.nsw.edu.au.
Further information will be provided to the Clubs and swimmers as we finalise this exciting program.
